Tapestry's community is supported by parents, foster parents, guardians, grand-parents, musicians, dancers, artists, and friends.
Their skills, commitment, encouragement, and love help our singers to thrive.
In May 2022, Tapestry’s SENIOR Singers were thrilled to place FIRST in their Provincial Class at Performing Arts B.C.!!
PRINCE GEORGE Tapestry Singers is a performance group that strives toward a high level of artistic excellence in choral performance along with personal and social growth. Their community is diverse and inclusive; all are affirmed. The mission of Tapestry Singers is to create a joyful and beautiful sound, to strive for choral excellence, and to foster a life-long love of music and music making. 2022-2023 will mark Tapestry Singer's 16th choral season.
The SENIOR component of Tapestry Singers includes singers in Grades 7-12. They are active in the Prince George community, singing at sporting events, collaborating with local choirs, performing together with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, and on special occasions, drumming with The K’hastan Drummers.
Prior to COVID 19, Tapestry SENIORS travelled annually; we are hoping to return to travel in April or May 2023. More travel details will be discussed at the Family/Singer Meeting at the end of September. Travel is not optional; all singers travel together. Singers have travelled to music festivals in Edmonton (Non-Adjudicated Festival), Whistler (GOLD), Seattle (GOLD), Sun Peaks (GOLD), and The Canadian Rocky Music Festival in Banff, Alberta (Non-Adjudicated Festival). In April 2014, Tapestry traveled to Seattle, Washington, to participate in the Worldstrides Heritage Music Festival. They returned with a GOLD Standing and 1st Place in their choir category, Best Overall Choir at the festival, and an invitation to participate in a National Youth Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall. In April 2019, Tapestry’s SENIOR Singers participated in the 2019 Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals and then traveled to Salt Spring Island, where they held a community concert, “Circle of Friends”. Tapestry's SENIOR Singers are consistently recommended as Provincial Delegates to Performing Arts B.C. In May 2019, they received Honorable Mention at Performing Arts B.C. In May 2018 and May 2022, Tapestry’s SENIOR Singers placed FIRST in their Provincial Class at Performing Arts B.C.
Although not formally auditioned, SENIOR singers are expected to sing “tunefully” and commit to a busy choral season. Parent/Singer Conversations ensure that Tapestry is a good fit for both the families and the director. Commitment is essential. SENIOR Singers participate in fundraisers throughout the season.
